melative is a web-application/service which focuses on media (and media contexts). It provides an interface for users to catalog their experiences, interact with titles, and find other users with similar interests. For developers, the API allows a simplistic, RESTful interface to meta-information resources on media-titles, creators, and more.
There are many (possibly too many) features and interaction possibilities built into the API, and we are striving to provide interesting new ways in which users may express themselves when it comes to the media they enjoy. Some of the current features include:
Latest!
We are now in a cloud instance on mosso, using the speedy nginx.
New!
Check out the Firefox extension for updating and reading your microblogging stream.
At the current time, melative is in alpha but registration is open once again (via nuclear user management). The current WebUI is not being developed as the core API is transfered to the nuclear framework, hence some functionally may not work or is quirky (progress on the webui is now ongoing). Live development is ongoing, and many of the accessible API methods can be directly interfaced with the current html forms.
Most progress will occur on the dev-api, and interaction/testing is encouraged. The nature of the api is that when a method is developed it will become better and more stable over time, and because methods are often independent of each other, the functionality becomes better with every method (as moved from the old api).
At this time, the API is perhaps the most stable/consistent component of the application, and 3rd party applications may leverage it, though it is lacking documentation. Additional methods will be documented when more time can be balanced between coding and speficiations. (please excuse the one-man show... he is a not-so-great/efficient designer)
Please check out the blog, follow @melative, join the chat, or investigate the wiki. If you'd like to help out, be sure to drop a line.
